Population Matters

We work within the alliances below. We have no undeclared affiliations or partnerships.

Climate change

Climate Coalition
The United Kingdom’s largest organization dedicated to addressing climate change and its impacts on the poorest in society. We aim to help reduce carbon emissions and their effect on climate through mindful consumption and sustainable population growth.

Also known as the Global Call for Climate Action, tcktcktck is a network of 450 not-for-profit organizations aiming to achieve a world safe from runaway climate change. We support addressing climate change through sustainable populations and appropriate levels of consumption.

Action/2015 is a movement to end poverty, inequality and dangerous climate change. We believe that stabilising and reversing human population growth is essential to achieving those aims.

Beyond 2015
A global civil society campaign for a successor to the 2015 Millennium Development Goals. We follow their target-driven approach incorporating population projections into the making of policy.

A collaborative body for international development organizations. Bond provides us with the opportunity to work collectively with other like-minded organizations towards our mutual goals.

The Bureau is Europe’s largest federation of environmental organizations. It promotes European environmental justice. We support limiting population and consumption on a national and continental level to help conserve the environment.

Sexual and reproductive health and rights

Action for Global Health
A network of development and health organizations that call for better policies to support health services in the developing world.

Every Woman Every Child

Our promotion of female rights and equal access to sexual and reproductive health services allows women equal opportunities to men and is in keeping with Every Woman Every Child’s goal.

Health Workers Count
A coalition campaigning to bridge the gap between the world’s demand and supply of health workers. We support the improvement of access to sexual and reproductive health services around the world.

Partnership for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health
The Partnership joins together 500 members with a goal for a world in which all women, newborns, children and adolescents are healthy and thrive. We believe improving female and newborn health is crucial to women’s ability to choose their family size and to limiting unplanned pregnancies.

Reproductive Health Supplies Coalition
A global partnership of organizations dedicated to ensuring that all people in low- and middle-income countries have access to affordable and high-quality reproductive healthcare. Reproductive health is crucial to reducing poverty, empowering women and achieving our goal of a stable and sustainable population.

Sex Education Forum
An organization that believes all young people should have access to an evidence- and rights-based approach to quality sex education. We believe that proper sexual education and access to family planning and contraceptives is vital to the achievement of stable populations and smaller families.

We Trust Women
The campaign to decriminalise abortion across the UK. We believe that in the 21st century we should be trusting women to make their own decisions about their own pregnancies, and removing the threat of prosecution from those healthcare professionals providing women with the services and support they need.

White Ribbon Alliance
The Alliance supports the right to a safe birth for every woman in the world. We support improvements in reproductive health to help empower women.

Women’s Global Network for Reproductive Rights
A network building and strengthening movements towards sexual and reproductive health rights and justice. Our view is that sexual health and reproductive rights are necessary contributors to a population size consuming resources at a sustainable level.

Global Footprint Network
An organization raising awareness of Earth’s current level of ecological overshoot by using ecological footprint data in planning in all public and private enterprise. We believe that each country should move towards stabilising their population and consumption in order to minimise dependence on resources outside of their borders.

The Post Growth Alliance is a network of like-minded organizations using collective reach to enhance individual impacts and grow the broader post-growth movement.

Girls Not Brides
A global partnership working to address child marriage. We support each woman’s right to education and to choose when and who to marry and how many children to have.

An alliance of nongovernmental organizations working with men and boys to promote gender equality. We support gender equality as a means of empowering women to taking control of their own fertility and stabilising population size.

No More Page Three
A campaign to improve gender equality and women’s rights through the removal of sexual images in mainstream publications. We support the improvement of representation of women in the media — away from sexual objects to members of an empowered group with equal rights.
